In line with policies adopted by Endesa and its international affiliates, in October 2006 Cam signed the Global Compact, a set of United Nations ethics guidelines launched in 1999, which invites all organizations and other entities to adopt these principles as part of their strategy and operations.

The aim of the Pact is to foster the creation of a global corporate citizenship that would reconcile the interests and processes of business activity with the values and demands of civil society, UN projects, international sectoral organizations, labor unions, and NGO’s.  The ten principles included in the Pact can be summarized as commitment to and promotion of best practices in four areas: human rights, labor regulations, environment, and the fight against corruption.

Principles of the UN Global Compact
Human Rights
1.	Corporations should support and respect internationally recognized Human Rights;
2.	They should avoid any involvement in Human Rights abuses..
Labor Regulations
3.	Corporations should respect the freedom of association, and the right to collective bargaining;
4.	They should abolish any form of forced and obligatory labor;
5.	They should abolish child labor;
6.	They should abolish discrimination in employment and occupation.
The Environment
7.	Corporations should apply a preventive approach is matters relating to the environment;
8.	They should adopt policies that promote environmental responsibility; and
9.	They should foster the development and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies.¨
The fight against corruption
10.	Corporations must not take part in, or promote, any acts of corruption.
