Cam’s commitment with social, economic and cultural development in the community is a challenge that the company tentatively implemented during 2008 through various actions by its subsidiaries.
These include the promotion of the young people’s employment project (Prejal) in Latin America, promoted by the International Labor Organization (ILO) which applies dual professional and technical training to help in the creation of job opportunities. The dual education method is carried out in two learning places, companies and schools.
Activities Carried Out
Formation of young professionals:
Cam contributes to the formation of young professionals graduating from technical schools by receiving and inserting them in its operative processes, facilitating the transfer of practical and theoretical knowledge through experienced professionals within the company. The Chilean subsidiary has been developing since 2007 the young people’s employment promotion project (Prejal) in Latin America, promoted by the ILO which applies dual professional and technical training to help in the creation of job opportunities. The dual education method is carried out in two learning places, companies and schools.
Social activities:
In Brazil, there was a campaign for collecting toys for a nursery for children who have been victims of intra-family violence. An important donation of clothes and food was also made to those affected by the storms that hit Río de Janeiro.
For Christmas, the subsidiary in Colombia caught the spirit of the season by donating toys to the Fundación Plan de Reconciliación Basilea, which receives children from poor backgrounds.
During August, a group of employees of cam’s subsidiary in Peru visited the home of La Sagrada Familia, a charitable organization that cares for children living on the streets.
